Hastelloy C-276
Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium superalloy with tungsten for excellent corrosion resistance across severe environments. High nickel and molybdenum resist pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing environments while chromium handles oxidising media. Low carbon minimises carbide precipitation during welding, preserving as-welded corrosion resistance, and the alloy resists grain-boundary precipitates in the heat-affected zone.
Of all Hastelloy variations, C-276 is by far the most widely used — in chemical processing, pollution control, pulp and paper, industrial and municipal waste treatment, and sour natural gas recovery.
